Shoulder Blade Exercise I

  
This yoga exercise works on the muscles of the upper back strengthening increasing circulation to them. Generally certain areas of the back are not much in use and the muscles are not supple enough to reach portions of your back with your hands. These exercises will loosen up the muscles of the shoulder blades and related muscles.
   
      
Start Position :

      
Sit on your chair with back and head straight.

Activity during Inhaling: Raise your arms sideways to shoulder levels.
Activity during Exhaling : Exhale when forming fists with your hands.

   While inhaling at this stage push your arms backward so as to create a light squeezing of the shoulder blade and shoulder muscle.

Exhale as you bring your arms back to start position. You need not lift the shoulder but keep them at the same level as to start position.

   During the start position keep your arms outstretched with the palms in such a way that the finger tips pointing to the ceiling.

  
While inhaling squeeze your shoulder blades firmly together by pushing your arms backward.
   

During exhalation keeping the same position slowly lower your arms keeping the shoulder blades squeezed firmly together until the arms are at the sides of your body. While reaching this position of the arms at the sides of the body shoulder squeezing will automatically release.
